Q & A

glowbyCarey

Q. What if I am shy and extremely nervous?
A. It is normal to be nervous, however, I will remind you that I have been doing this for 10 years now. I am thoroughly trained and experienced in hair removal and I will make you feel very comfortable and at ease.

Q. Will I experience in-grown hairs?
A. You may experience in-grown hairs. I recommend antibacterial products to keep the hair follicle clean and regular exfoliation methods to prevent dead skin cells from trapping hair re-growth. Some women are more prone to getting in-grown hairs based on their hair type. With daily exfoliation and after-care you will receive the best results from your wax.

Q. Can I receive a Bikini or Brazilian wax while on my menstrual cycle?
A. Yes. You may experience more discomfort because the skin is more sensitive during this time.

Q. Can I get a Bikini or Brazilian wax if I am pregnant?
A. Check with your physician first. I will wax you, however, your skin may be more sensitive during your pregnancy.

Q. Are there pre/post care instructions I should know about?

A. Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds 24-48 hours before and after getting waxed. Certain antibiotics, oral or topical medications may cause you to be more sensitive to waxing. You will experience temporary redness and bumps immediately after waxing that may last two days, depending upon your sensitivity level. I apply post-waxing oils to soothe the area and offer helpful suggestions for products to use at home to give you the best results after your waxing appointment. Wear comfy clothes.

Q. How long does the area stay smooth?

A. Depending on your hair growth, the area being waxed can stay completely free of hair anywhere from 7 to 14 days. You may start to see sparse hairs come to the surface, however, in 4 to 6 weeks, the hair re-growth is usually 1/4 to 1/2 of what it was before. You will be amazed by how sparse the re-growth becomes. Results do vary with each individual.

Q. How often should I return for a Bikini or Brazilian wax?

A. It is ideal to come in for waxing every 4 to 6 weeks. Each time you wax, hair growth is sparser, thinner, and finer, which makes the hair removal process a lot less discomforting.

Q. Does Bikini or Brazilian waxing hurt?
A. The majority of clients say that the waxing process isn’t as painful as they anticipated. Your first Bikini or Brazilian wax hurts more than any other time because coarse hairs are being pulled out of the hair follicles for the first time and it is at its thickest point. Each time after, the hair becomes sparser and sparser. Various techniques are used to make sure you are as comfortable as possible.

Q. What type of wax do you use?

A. Nufree Nudesse 98.6. It is a liquid hair removal product containing no beeswax, sugar, or harsh ingredients. It contains soy, antimicrobial, and antibacterial ingredients. Nufree Nudesse is safe for even the most sensitive skin types and isn’t as discomforting as other wax products because the product adheres to the hair vs. the skin.

Q. How long should my hair growth be?

A. If you normally shave, allow at least ten days of hair growth before your waxing appointment. For best results, 2 weeks is ideal.
